Greetings from Dr. Daniel Buggs

I greet you on behalf of the Inner-City Classic Football Game Committee. My name is Dr. Daniel Buggs and I am the Founder and Executive Director of The Winning Circle, Inc., the non-profit which is the coordinating organization of the Inner-City Classic Football Games. I am a former professional athlete having played in the NFL with the Washington Redskins, and New York Giants, in the USFL with Tampa Bay and San Antonio, and in the CFL with the Edmonton Eskimos. I currently serve as the SIAC Conference Chaplain. Having graduated from the University of West Virginia, and serving the last 6 years at Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, Morris Brown College, Miles College, and Tuskegee University, it has been my desire to bring HBCU Schools together in inter-conference game match-ups to be played here in Atlanta, GA, similar to a Fiesta Bowl or Rose Bowl. Then in the second year of the Inner City Classic the emphasis was shifted to the local high schools located in the Metro Atlanta, Georgia Area. My board of directors and I felt it was our duty to give these young athletes an experience that will change their lives and inspire them to be the leader that is within them. I want our athletes to be exposed to all of the elements of a true Bowl Game, including game paraphernalia (sweat suits, shoes and bags), game rings and watches, and trophies. This is the fifth annual Inner City Classic which will be held on the weekend of August 26th, 2016.

The Inner-City Classic is essentially composed of four major components to benefit each participating institution: Educational, Mentorship, Experience, and Exposure.

      •  Educational – Each institution is presented with an honorarium to be used for athletics or for student scholarships.
      •  Mentorship – The students while participating will have access to local business entrepreneurs and executives to be able to learn from their experiences.
      •  Experience – The invaluable experience of participating in such a unique game classic and in a non-traditional seasonal game match-up.
      •  Exposure – The game will give the students exposure to the true elements of a “Bowl” game atmosphere.

To provide a little more preliminary information on the Inner-City Classic. It will be held in the heart of inner-city Atlanta at the Clark Atlanta University Stadium.  Each of the game winners will be presented a game trophy, caps, and t-shirts.  Plaques will also be presented to the Most Valuable Offensive and Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Game.
